Handwriting

Here is a link to the handwriting patterns we teach at LCA. https://www.twinkl.co.uk/resource/t-l-8914-letter-formation-families-display-posters

This is a really easy thing to do at home and can be done using all sorts of different writing 'implements'. Why not try:

  • Good old fashioned pencil and paper!
  • Toy cars with wheels rolled in paint.
  • Chalks on the patio or outside walls.
  • Water and a paintbrush on the patio.
  • Finger painting

Always remember that when writing with a pencil, the pencil should be held using the tripod grip.

Reading

You should continue to read to your child as often as possible. This is a brilliant way to encourage a love of reading but it is also key in supporting your child to understand what fluent reading sounds like.

There are lots of great websites offering free access to reading books, as well as sites where children can listen to authors and others reading.
