Personal Development and extra-curricular activities
At Lincoln Carlton Academy we aim to offer a wealth of different activities both during and after school. Our extra-curricular activities are really important to us as it provides further opportunities to for our children to flourish and perhaps find a new passion and nurture a new skill.
Royal Academy Young Artist Competition
In May 2022, many of our children sent in entries for the Royal Academy Young Artist Competition. Although we had no winners from LCA ,there were some incredible entries and we are very proud of everyone's efforts. Their pieces are now being displayed in the school hall.
Music Tuition
Music Tuition is available at Lincoln Carlton Academy through Andy and the team at Front Row Music. They currently offer lessons in ukulele, guitar, drums and keyboard. For further information, please contact Andy on 01522 246996 or email info@frontrow-music.com
Mini Police
The programme runs for two years and is delivered by our local Police Community Support Officers to enable familiarity, local knowledge and confidence in the local policing teams. Mini Police Lincolnshire has been aligned to the national Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education curriculum as it focuses on children’s personal development, which helps them be more confident, resilient, independent and develop character. It also helps them to assess and challenge age-appropriate risky situations.
Junior Road Safety Officers
The Junior Road Safety Officer Programme is coordinated by the Lincolnshire Road Safety Partnership and Roadwise.
Junior Road Safety Officers help our local Road Safety Officer (Pam Streets) to promote road safety issues within the school and the local community. Our JRSOs are in Year 5.
Being a JRSO is a very important job, but it’s also really good fun.
Throughout the year they are involved in lots of activities.
- Maintaining a notice board and making sure the road safety information is up to date
- Talking in an Assembly or in Class on road safety themes
- Arranging competitions - there is currently a colouring competition for EYFS and Key Stage One
- Awarding certificates
- Using the JRSO website
Enrichment Time
Each half term every child has the opportunity to take part in an afternoon of enrichment activities. Enrichment activities are planned with all children in mind but particularly our most disadvantaged so that they can take part in activities that they may not be able to access at home. This might include activities such as baking, yoga, dancing, needlecraft, gardening and STEM activities. It will also include elements of competition between houses where points can be collected towards winning the Inter House Cup.
